How old is my Café appliance?
Type the serial number from the Café label to see when it was built. Café units are built by GE Appliances, so the serials follow that company's format.
Reading a Café serial number
Café is a GE Appliances line. Its serials start with the same month and year letters as GE.
About Café
- GE launched the line as GE Café on Labor Day 2007, covering cooking, refrigeration and dishwashers.
- In August 2018 Café replaced GE Café, dropping GE from the name.
- The 2018 Matte Collection came in matte white or matte black with swappable handles and knobs.

GE month and year letters
Used 1970 to today. Example: LR821547C
The first letter is the month and the second letter is the year, followed by six digits and usually one more letter. The year letters repeat every 12 years, so the same code fits several dates.
Worked example: RL059433C fits August 1970 or August 1982 or August 1994 or August 2006 or August 2018. The page above explains how to tell which.
The full lookup tables are on the GE page, since Café uses the same code.
