How old is my White-Westinghouse appliance?

Type the serial number from the White-Westinghouse label to see when it was built. White-Westinghouse units are built by Electrolux, so the serials follow that company's format.

Reading a White-Westinghouse serial number

White-Westinghouse appliances made since Electrolux bought White Consolidated in 1986 use the Frigidaire code: year digit third, then the week. Older units may not.

About White-Westinghouse

  • The White-Westinghouse name dates from 1975, when White Consolidated Industries bought Westinghouse's major appliance business.
  • Units built from 1975 to 1986 came from White Consolidated. Electrolux took over the brand when it bought White Consolidated in 1986.

Electrolux plant, product, year digit and week

Used 1986 to today. Example: 3F91400621

The first character is the plant and the second letter is the product type. The third character is the last digit of the year, and the fourth and fifth are the week. The decade is not in the serial, so one code fits a year in each decade.

Worked example: TH00257759 fits Week 2 of 1990 (around January) or Week 2 of 2000 (around January) or Week 2 of 2010 (around January) or Week 2 of 2020 (around January). The page above explains how to tell which.

The full lookup tables are on the Electrolux page, since White-Westinghouse uses the same code.
