Where is the serial number on an appliance?
Refrigerators: inside, on a side wall or the ceiling of the fresh food section. Washers and dryers: under the lid, around the door opening, or on the back. Dishwashers: on the edge of the door or the tub frame. Ranges: behind the storage drawer or on the frame when the oven door is open.
Why does it list several possible years?
Many makers use letter codes that repeat. GE’s year letters start over every 12 years, so one code can fit several decades. The look of the appliance, the model number, or the receipt usually rules all but one out.
How do I tell who made a Kenmore?
The first three digits of the model number name the maker. 106, 110 and 665 are Whirlpool. 253 and 417 are Electrolux (Frigidaire). 363 is mostly GE. 795 is LG and 401 is Samsung.
